To deliver an engaging mathematics curriculum to middle and high school students, that will effectively improve the students’ mathematics grades through supportive and hands-on learning and also increase the students’ interest in mathematics, mathematical aptitude, and understanding of real-world applications of mathematics.

About Us

Ma+h Matters is a leading provider of innovative math programs for students of all ages. Our team is dedicated to making math fun and accessible, and we are passionate about helping students succeed. We offer a range of programs that reinforce math concepts and inspire students to see the world in a new light. Our programs are designed by experts in the field and are constantly evolving to meet the changing needs of our students and our industry.

Colette Nichols

Colette Nichols is Founder and Chair of Ma+h Matters, Inc. She obtained Bachelor of Science degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science - Applied Mathematics at the University of South Carolina - Upstate. Ms. Nichols obtained a Master of Science degree at North Carolina State University. Additionally, she obtained a Graduate Certificate in Information Security and Privacy. Ms. Nichols is currently a Data Scientist and has over 20 years experience in Financial Services spanning roles in financial crimes divisions, compliance, operational excellence and most recently risk analytics.

 

Ms. Nichols’ passion for mathematics started in elementary school when she often observed her mother teaching mathematics. This passion for mathematics and the desire to help students of all ages better understand mathematics has grown into the development of Ma+h Matters, Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Her goal is for Ma+h Matters to positively impact thousands of students in mathematics.

 

In her free time, Ms. Nichols enjoys running, volunteering, traveling, baking and spending time with family and friends.

Bob Woods

Bob Woods is Vice Chair of Ma+h Matters, Inc. Mr. Woods has a Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics from the University of South Carolina and an MBA from Queens University McColl School of Business. He has over 20 years of banking experience in risk management, portfolio analytics, quantitative analysis, scorecard development\implementation, and information technology. Since graduating from Queens University McColl School of Business, Mr. Woods has been involved in various community and nonprofit organizations. He currently serves on the McColl School Board of Advisors. He is the chair of the Morrison Executive YMCA Board of Directors. He also is a member of the YMCA Metro Association Board. Mr. Woods’ passion is to expand youth’s perspective on math and related careers.

Courtney Potts

Courtney Potts is the Secretary of Ma+h Matters, Inc. She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics at Spelman College. Mrs. Potts obtained a Master of Science degree in Mathematical Finance at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Additionally, she obtained a Meeting & Event Planning Certificate from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Mrs. Potts is currently a Sr. Client Services Manager and has over 10 years of experience in Financial Services with expertise in Retirement Planning.

Mrs. Potts’ passion for mathematics started in high school while in her Algebra II class. In her free time, Mrs. Potts enjoys volunteering, traveling, yoga and spending time with family and friends.

Dr. Jennifer R. Bishop

Dr. Jennifer R. Bishop

Dr. Jennifer R. Bishop serves as the Treasurer of Ma+h Matters, Inc., a vital organization that significantly impacts the community and schools by promoting mathematical education and literacy. With over 20 years of experience in financial services, Dr. Bishop has specialized in operational risk management, technology, and governance. She holds a BA in Finance and Management and an MBA from Baldwin Wallace University, as well as a Ph.D. in Management and Design and Sustainability in Organizations from Case Western Reserve University.

Throughout her career, Dr. Bishop has held significant roles in the banking industry, leveraging her expertise to manage complex financial systems and ensure effective risk mitigation. Her insights into operational risk management have been instrumental in navigating modern financial challenges and implementing strategies that safeguard organizational integrity.

Dr. Bishop is dedicated to board service focused on women and children in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg community, using her leadership skills to drive impactful initiatives. Her commitment to service is reflected in her ongoing efforts to advance opportunities and support for underserved populations, making a tangible difference in the lives of others.

As a published author, Dr. Bishop's research centers on the advancement of African Americans to the C-suite within the banking industry. Her work highlights the barriers faced by minority professionals and proposes actionable strategies to foster greater representation and equity at executive levels. Her contributions emphasize the critical need for inclusive leadership and advocate for systemic changes that facilitate the ascent of diverse talent in corporate hierarchies.
