The focus of Ma+h Matters is to reinforce subject matter taught in class, in engaging and different ways. Enrollees in our programs are students who may have low confidence in mathematics. While the emphasis is on students who have average or below average grades in mathematics, Ma+h Matters can also benefit the student who has above average mathematics grades. Reinforcing subject matter taught in class, in engaging and different ways, as well as exposing them to mathematicians and career fields using mathematics, can benefit all students.
Our Programs
At Ma+h Matters, we strive to make learning math fun and exciting for students. Our programs are designed to reinforce classroom learning and expose students to real-world applications of math. Our experienced volunteers use innovative teaching methods to engage students and help them develop a love for math that will last a lifetime.
7th grade math
Students will solve real-world problems using equations, area, surface area and volume.
8th grade math
Students will model relationships using functions and study applications of statistics and probability.

Students will interpret quantitative data and study mathematical models.

Students will study equations and inequalities, building functions and conditional probability, using real-world examples.

Students will interpret and build functions, develop models of real-world problems using geometry.
